Virginia Lee Dawson Mabe Godwin

She peacefully passed away Tuesday March 19, 2024, in Gilbert, AZ into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. Her children, grandchildren, and most of her great grandchildren were by her bedside throughout the 3 days prior showing their love.
Services are at Gateway Fellowship Church in Gilbert, on Saturday, April 13. A viewing will be from 12:15PM to 12:45PM with the service to begin at 1:00PM. A reception to follow.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Homer Mabe and Ada Dawson Mabe.
Virginia is survived by her daughters Pam Jones (Harry) of Gilbert, AZ and Julie Layman of Tucson, AZ. Grandchildren: Scott Jones (Shannon) of Mesa, AZ; Steven Jones of Gilbert, AZ; Heather Morello of Detroit, MI; Kelly Peters and Kyle Peters of Tucson, AZ. Great Grandchildren: Mykella Krumweid (seth) of Flagstaff,AZ; Timothy Jones (Rachel) of Phoenix, AZ; Michael Jones (Savannah) of Gilbert, AZ; Kara Gilmore (Eric) of Denton, TX; Nathan Jones of Scottsdale, AZ; Krista Morello of Detroit, MI; Maddie Peters and Ella Peters of Tucson, AZ.
Virginia graduated from Kenmore Highschool in Akron, OH in 1945.
Throughout her life, she was a nurse's aide, store clerk, office worker, van driver, unit secretary, and office secretary. Locally, she was employed by Mesa Lutheran Hospital for 21 years, retiring as the Admitting Manager in 1991. After retiring, she worked part-time for Dillard's for 3 years.
Virgina was a long-time member if the Trinity Baptist Church in Mesa, but most recently she was a member of Gateway Fellowship, SBC in Gilbert.
